In reply to E.2/HP.25.10.35, with regard to the flooding test carried out on the Duplex Stromberg Carburetter with the float needle jammed open, we have since had a visit from Mr. Fisher, the Stromberg representative. The largest leak, and as you say, one of the most difficult to deal with, is that past the accelerator pump spindle. In the respect the actual carburetter upon which the flooding tests were carried out is not up-to-date in that around the spindle and below the cover, there should be a good fitting leather washer, held in position as a seal to the cover by a spring around the spindle and below the washer. When the test was done there was no jointing washer between the cover and the floatchamber, and we are assured that with the correct washer a good joint is made. The remaining leak from the floatchamber vent has to be provided for, if to atmospheric, as is the case with any type of carburetter. HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/L.R.Swindall. | ||
