-8- Em/IMW{Ivan M. Waller - Head of Chateauroux}/6/MH.{M. Huckerby}17.12.37. Comparative cornering powers of various tyres have been obtained, and also the relative speeds at which squealing and skidding occur. For instance, comparative figures taken on a Bentley were:- Squealing. Skidding. Standard India 5.50 - 18 .428 .498. New Silent India 6.50 - 17 .360 .63. Other miscellaneous tests carried out on the Skid-pan include escape of petrol from filler caps and vent pipes on corners, and effects on carburetters or float chamber position. Loss of oil pressure due to the oil pump suction becoming uncovered would be revealed, but this has not occured with the cars tested. To sum up, information has and can be quickly obtained on the Skid-pan which would only be revealed by long and possibly unfortunate experience in service.
