Re Double Rear Brakes. X.2

It would be a great convenience, in fact I consider it a necessity, if the aluminium brake covers were split into two halves. It is essential for the correct setting of the brake shoes that one can get at the back of the brake with a feeler gauge. It is also good to be able to clean the brake and lubricate the joints occasionally, this cannot be done with the cover in one piece.
I have split the covers on chassis 2300 and find it a great convenience. There is no drawback whatever. At the top and bottom of the cover there are places which are only ½” wide and this is a good place to cut them.
I think this should be standardised at once for this type of brake, also all the cars with double brakes should have this simple job done as it gives such great advantage.
