V3700 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/RmS/LGS.1.27. PETROL FILTER. V3700 In response to the repeated request from Sales for an improved petrol filter. We have tested out the new 'Zenith' edge filtration fitment. This device must be installed somewhere between the autovac and the carburetter. Our bench tests have shewn that this filter is definitely finer than our present standard gauze filter. As a consequence it gets choked up more rapidly. The makers claim that the road vibration obviates this difficulty as the impurities fall to the bottom of the filter chamber. The only method of substantiating the claim is to carry out extensive road tests. We suggest that if it was thought desirable we could fit a number of these filters in an inconspicuous position on trials cars. We are fitting them to Experimental cars but have never had the same difficulty with choked jets as has been experienced in London.
