N.B. TYPE DYNAMO FOR 40/50 CHASSIS. X8672

On 10.5.27, we completed and circulated a standardisation sheet for the N.B. type of dynamo, which has better running qualities than the present standard type, principally as regards greater output for a given degree of heating, but also from the point of view of having practically cured the noise trouble. This standardisation sheet was only done after extremely careful tests in the Expl. Dept. and several 10,000 mile tests on the car.

The Test Dept. are not yet receiving machines of this type, and in view of the faults on the present machines, we think every endeavour should be made to get these on production as soon as possible.

By experiment we know of a cure and we have suggested this cure for the noisiness of present standard 40/50 machines, viz. the use of a 28 slot armature, but we understand it has not been considered worth while adopting this owing to the prospect of getting N.B. machines on production.
