Dear Sirs, Since receiving your letter of the 29th. with layout for the Tri-metal main bearings on our 2 3/4 journal crank (Cast-Iron-Case) we have been in touch with your Mr. Johnson and have arrived at the following decision. That we make our crankcases 2.9165 - 2.9170 housing bores as marked up in your layout but the thrust washers to be as dimensioned in the layout for the 2 3/4 journals (Babbit bearings). In order to be sure of this point we give the dimensions herewith:- Inside dia. thrust washer - 2.930 - 2.940 Outside " " - 3.432 - 3.442 Crankcase and cap bore - 3.443 - 3.445 In accordance with the above, we require 3 sets of Tri-metal bearings with corresponding thrust washers together with 2 similar sets, but in the normal Babbit and thrust washers for comparative trial of the two types of bearings under the same conditions. We understand that in regard to our request for some spare Tri-metal bearings for the 2.730 diameter crank, you only have front, centre and rear of this type. As the | ||
