RE PHANTOM III CLUTCH.

In reply to Br/G5/M.29.4.38, we are daily expecting a quotation for a supply of these springs so that at the moment we cannot say when further supplies of springs will be available. If, however, you are hard pressed for either of the two types it may be necessary for us to make a further supply by softening, altering and re-tempering existing springs as was done in the case of the springs already supplied. We would, however, prefer to use new springs made to the correct poundage both in the interests of cost and reliability.

We would also be interested to know if the larger proportion of the cars to which you have fitted Thermoid plates were fitted with the 070 packing ring as, of course, this factor decides which type of spring you will require in greater numbers.
