To Wd.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead} from Hm.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} C. to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} C. to BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} C. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X32461 Hm{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs}11/W8.1.24. 10,000 Miles Trial Car - 12-EM. Re Shock Absorbers. Wd{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead}2/NJ1.1.24. We regret we are not able to return these Shock Absorbers to the Makers in precisely the same state as they were found to be in after the 10,000 miles run. The reason for this is that the Shock Absorbers have been dismantled and examined, and consequently their adjustment has been interfered with. The Shock Absorbers, however, are ready to be returned to the Makers after being re-assembled after examination, and we are sure that Messrs. T.B. Andre & Co. will be interested to see their state. In their present state it will be observed that the wooden bearings are far too tight, also one of the large wooden friction washers has broken during the test. It is this broken friction washer which has increased it's friction from 40lbs. to 87lbs. during the test. Will Wd.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead} kindly forward a label for despatch to the Makers, and we should be glad if he would kindly obtain a report as soon as possible from the Manufacturers. Hm.{Capt. W.
