Contd. -5- EFC2/T19.11.24. is not of major importance as it would be in the case of a water pump, where the power to drive might be taken as negligible. Instead we may consider that in this case the actual technical efficiency of the fan would be of major importance. On the basis, therefore, of taking the thrust of the fan as being representative of the effect desired, the curves given on sheet D should be very definitely indicative of the value of various fans for the purpose in hand, independently of the tip diameter of the fan and of the chosen suitable value of the pulley ratio of the drive. The curves are being issued in the present state of the experiments, but it will be understood that the experimental work is going to be completed by finding the power curves of the other fans and deducing the curves for sheets C and D of all the fans, so that the best fan or fans on the lines explained shall be proved.
