Priv. Conf. file RM.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} All Testers. RM{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}2/R.21.4.19. PROGRESS OF DESIGN WORK. There will be a meeting on Monday next, the 24th. instant, at which we shall discuss with Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} the progress of designs at present going through the D.O. We hope to be able to give him the order of urgency for these various designs, and to say whether any are now not required. We have not sufficient capacity in the D.O. to get the job going unless we are very careful to concentrate on what is actually required. The following are a few designs which we consider to be important:- (1) Left-handing for nationalised chassis. (2) Simplified clutch mechanism. (3) Shortened front end of frame for cars which have the spare wheel at the back. (4) Simplified spring drive and damper for C.I. 6-cyl. engine. (5) A new frame for cars of 3-litres downwards. (6) Design incorporating the automatic start at present running on 25.G. (7) A pedal arrangement for brakes where the servo has been deleted entirely. There are probably many other designs which are required, and we hope to bring up these at the meeting. RM.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} This meeting will be held in the Technical Staff Office at 8.30 a.m. Monday. | ||
