Mr. W. A.{Mr Adams} Robotham
Rolls-Royce Ltd.
Derby, England.

Dear Mr. Robotham:

We are receiving a number of complaints in regards to the P-III overheating during hot weather. I do not know whether you have any similar complaint on file in Derby, but if you have any suggestions to make in regards to this matter would appreciate hearing from you. They certainly do get very hot rapidly when standing in traffic waiting for the traffic light and run up to 100 very quickly. If there is any remedy for this would like to know of it.

I am pleased to advise the clutch in the Demonstrator, while we have never dismantled it, is still functioning perfectly satisfactory. The present mileage is around 21,000 miles which means that the clutch has run approximately 11,000 miles.

We also find another rather serious trouble. Most of the cars are being returned after three or four thousand miles with the complaint that the shock absorbers are not working. We have found in every instance that the union nut on the pipe entering the bottom of the pump and governor casing alongside the gear box has become loose with the result that all of the oil has leaked out of this reservoir. While this pipe is coiled where connected at the frame cross member, I think there is too much vibration and this causes the union nut to back off with the resulting loss of oil.

We are still rather bothered with the question of snatching of the steering on the Demonstrator and understood Lewis was going to take this matter up when he returned to England, but we have not heard from anyone regarding this and it is quite objectionable. I wonder if you will discuss this with Lewis who knows the condition and advise if you find anything can be done to remedy this.

Very truly yours,
J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} S. INSKIP, INC.
