Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} -2- C8/C20.7.22. only average 171, and I found that quite enough. What with driving in the rain with a closed screen, strange roads, little French and darn bad roads for a good proportion of the tour I came to the conclusion I would far sooner do the same mileage in England. I quite agree, however, the test could not have been so good, because there are no bad roads in England to compare. If you want a nice 40 or 50 mile stretch to test breaking points I think the best I found was from Givy to Montriell on the Fontenbleu road. In case it is of interest, the tour I took was Boulogne, Abbeville, Rouen, Tours, Amboise, Blois, Orleans, Givy, Montriell, Fontenbleu, Versailles by a 100 miles detour, St.Cloud, skirted Paris to Soissons, St.Quentin, Cambria, Arras, La{L. A. Archer} Bassee, Bethune, St.Omer, and Boulogne; and we got every kind of road on earth. The brakes were good, but require a fair amount of pressure. I was immensely pleased with the chassis. Yours sincerely, | ||
