the oils we are at present using.

2. Castrol oil has a very low setting point. When it is used in the gearbox; this is a very great advantage because even if the car is left standing out all night in a freezing temperature it is possible to change gear as soon as the car is driven.
A fault we find with the ordinary gear oils is the fact that it sometimes becomes thicker with use.

We have watched to see whether castrol forms more carbon than other oils. We are not convinced of this point yet although our impression is that it is slightly worse for forming carbon. 2.EX Car ran nearly 7,000 miles before the cylinders were removed.

We think that Castrol oil or a similar oil might be used to advantage in a country like America. Mr. Olley mentioned, when he was over here, that they got a large amount of wear on the cylinder bores in America. One can only attribute that to the fact that the lubrication is unsatisfactory. We consider there should be no appreciable wear on cylinders after 10,000 miles if a good quality of lubricating oil is used.
