EFCl/T. 15th February, 1926. Mr. K.{Mr Kilner} Preston, Messrs. Peto & Radford, Dagenham Dock, Romford, Essex. Dear Mr. Preston, I have yours ref. KP/5 of the 11th inst. and have noted your remarks. I certainly had the impression that your proposal to reduce the thickness of the ebonite was part of the scheme for reducing the charging P.D., though I was aware that you were doing this by adopting certain modifications in the negative active material. Since I recently made rather a point amongst ourselves of adopting the .6 mm. ebonite, and have now informed my colleagues generally of my decision to revert to the .4 mm., the reason given being that the high charging P.D. is more objectionable than the slight possibility of failure indicated by the wear of the thinner separators, I would prefer to let this stand as the ostensible reason, though possibly if I had realised that you did not consider it made any difference to the charging P.D. I might not have agreed to alter it. At any rate, I should have asked you as to what you consider the balance of advantage in reverting to the .4 mm. and I would like now to ask you that question. There would be no question now of going back to the .6 mm. as I have definitely given my decision, so I trust you will be able to justify the circumstances as regards my own view of the matter. Yours sincerely, | ||
