Further to the above, there is however a feature (not previously observed on the 93-NK system) which occurs on the present system on 9-EX. If the engine does not, or is not allowed to start, and the push button be momentarily released and again brought on contact while the motor and engine are turning, a second release of the button does not release the system, but the motor continues to turn the engine and would continue to turn it light until some circuit connection is released. This sounds serious at first sight, because it sounds like the original trouble on the first system tried, but as a matter of fact, it could not occur if the engine were in gear, because it could only occur when the current to turn the motor is below a certain limit. It can only occur when the main current to turn the motor and the engine light is small enough to allow the relay contacts to remain on contact, the main current passing through a coil on the relay magnet core.

This effect is not produced with only one make and break of the push button switch. It is produced by a make quickly following the first break and a subsequent second break, a sequence such as might occur by a slipping of the foot. During the momentary break by the push button switch, the relay switch goes back to the top contact
