V791 NORTH & SONS LTD., WHIPPENDELL ROAD, WATFORD. CHK/DEW.1 29th December, 1927. ROY{Sir Henry Royce}2/MG22.12.27. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., DERBY. Dear Sirs, Magneto No.100081. We beg to acknowledge receipt of your letter of the 22nd. inst. which did not reach us before the works closed for the Christmas Holiday. The rotor arm referred to was examined and tested yesterday and found to be in order. We think a misunderstanding must have arisen owing to the different arrangement of the cams and the fact that when the timing mark is visible through the window, the break occurs on the opposite cam to that on which it occurs on the Model E.C.6. This, of course, does not affect anything outside the magneto, the same segment of the distributor block being used in each type of magneto, when the timing mark is vertical. We regret that you have experienced any inconvenience, but as the rotor arm is correct and is similar to those used on the other E.W.6. magnetos we have sent you, it has been returned by Parcel Post and we trust this will reach you in good time. With the Season's compliments and best wishes for the New Year. We remain, Yours faithfully, NORTH & SONS LTD. (sgd) R.B.North. | ||
