Messrs. Hepworth & Grandage Ltd.,
St.{Capt. P. R. Strong} John's Works,
Bradford,
YORKS.

For the attention of Mr. Brearley.

Dear Sirs,

We thank you for your letter of the 6th. inst. and note that the rings are already in hand.

Before instructing for a set of pistons to be grooved in accordance with your drawing, we would like to know the exact dimensions of the grooves and the limits for manufacture. Your piston drawing just states for 3/32" rings and 4.5 m/m rings and as we know that various people have different ideas of clearances we would like you to give the actual dimensions of the grooves you would prefer. Likewise a limit should be given to the diameter of the ring grooves.

On the 7th. inst. we received a letter from Mr. wilson, and before fitting your special rings and pistons to suit will obtain a figure for our standard product.

Yours faithfully,

for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
