TO C.C. FROM R.{Sir Henry Royce} C. to P.J. C.W.H. H.S. E.W.H. [Struck through] ORIGINAL [Stamped] REAR TANK & PETROL SUPPLY. 48460 / X8460 [Handwritten and struck through] It is concluded that the separate compartment scheme of petrol tank presents such difficulties in the reading and marking of the gauge, and the removal and gauging of the petrol, that we have decided that it is preferable to abandon this scheme and adopt in its stead the two lengths of suction pipe. There will still be the two interchangeable filters, and all the advantages of the partition scheme, except that care will be needed to always draw from the shorter pipe so that a reserve will be available. The distinct advantage of this arrangement will be that usually any dirt or water will be considerably below the main suction pipe. This will answer CWB's remarks with reference to passing the Customs. (See other memos. for further particulars.) TOO I [Faint handwriting] RECEIVED [Stamped] | ||
