-2- HISPANO SUIZA CON'TD. the Radiator was appreciably less efficient owing to three years service. We took the usual precautions to ensure that the fan was working properly etc. On the whole, since the HISPANO radiator is of a type not easily choked we should say the comparison was a fair one. The HISPANO fan being much less efficient than our own, this car is more affected by a following wind. It should be noted that the HISPANO carries no thermometer or warning device of any kind on the instrument board. PERFORMANCE. - The speedometer was substantially correct at all speeds. The acceleration of the car was equal to that of a Phantom ll up to 80 M.P.H. both C.O. closed. Above that speed the HISPANO had the advantage. When the Phantom ll cut-out was opened this advantage disappeared. The HISPANO maximum speed appeared to be slightly greater than 19-EX. Though we did not do an 'all out' lap in view of the poor condition of its tyres. The car certainly had an advantage in windage. We should estimate its lap speed as 84 - 85 M.P.H. under favourable conditions. ---------------- | ||
