EFC X7791 Mailing By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} EFC3/T. 12th December, 1927. Messrs. North & Sons Ltd., Whippendell Road, Watford. Dear Sirs, We duly received your letter ref. CHK/DEW.10 of the 2nd. inst. We have also now received the new magneto No.100080 but we are not quite clear and cannot easily tell from inspection whether this magneto purports to be fitted with the new cams. It will be remembered that you stated in your letter that the new magnetos would be so fitted, and that we sent a telegram urging delivery of one of these whether the cams were ready or not. In any case, we find this magneto to be rather noisy and certainly more noisy than the one Mr. North brought back (No.99802). On the other hand we find No.99802 to have a relatively poor low speed performance as compared with its previous performance before we returned it to you with the complaint of armature rubbing. Now it transpires that the machine No.99171 on which we did cam tests and which we reported to you as showing the new cam to be better, has also developed an armature rub and we think it will be necessary to return this to you. We are accordingly making arrangements for this procedure. We are also hoping to receive from you the new cams arranged for standard make ratio but with much lighter let-down on the make. Contd. | ||
