X632 TO WOH. FROM R.{Sir Henry Royce} C. to CJ. HY{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} C. to DI. C. to HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} R1/M2. 7. 23. RE. ELECTRICAL RIVETING. We at West WitteringHenry Royce's home town are dissatisfied with some of the riveting we have seen on RR. work, and think that it might be improved. A scheme that might help us consider-ably in this respect is that of riveting electrical-ly, described on the attached memo. written to me by E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} (E1/M2.7.23.) I suggest that Mr. Haldenby should be asked to thoroughly investigate the possibilities of this scheme, or any other scheme that can be suggest-ed{J. L. Edwards}, such as revolving riveting machine, etc. The riveted up fan pulley on the Gos-hawk reported by Mr. Hives to come loose, might be made a sound job by this means. Most of our latest design suggests hollow rivets of increased diameter. This I think a great improvement. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
