Dear Sirs,

For the attention of Mr H.West.

With reference to your letter of the 27th inst., we note that you require all 80 mph instruments to read 5% fast over and above 40.

We should like to point out that the only means we have of doing this other than a specially calibrated dial, would be to advance the hand 5% at 60 mph, which would of course, cover the whole range of the dial from zero.

We have passed instructions for all instruments to be timed according to this and trust this will suit your purpose.
