Mr. Embiricos.
Chassis 260 GA.

The oil consumption on this car on the Continent is poor. I have carried out the following tests today.
Checked oil level 1.1/2 gallons,hot.

I) Test run 100 miles 2 hours 50 MPH. Average.
Oil used .218 gallons - 458 MPG.
Wet roads, cool weather.

2) Afternoon's run
Test run over same course 100 miles I hr. 42 mins.
60 MPH. Average.
Oil used .405 gallons - 247 MPG.

There is no outward sign of any leak of oil.

The exhaust is perfectly clear open up standing. On the road I could not discern any smoke, but it is evident that the rings are not effecient.

We are for the present leaving this car alone as we have got the one about ready with the RR. cylinder block and pistons.

The results are very disconcerting after the results in England.

*66 p.h = 4 GPH 12.12 MPG
