Extract from M {Mr Moon / Mr Moore} /5 from Messrs. P & R. {Sir Henry Royce}

X.4617S. 26th July, 1928.

"Mr. Preston wishes you to know that we are making up three cells as follows :-

1. Standard R.R.11. - wood and ebonite separators carried up to underside of bus bar- i.e. projecting ½" abovetop of plates - Dagenite hold-down discarded.

2. Standard R.R.11. - wood and ebonite separators extended ¼" above plates and hold-downs reduced ¼"

3. Bus bar on standard section lowered by ¼" and ¼" added to height of pillar. Wood and ebonite separation extended to underside of bus bar, i.e. ¼" above tops of plates, Dagenite hold-downs discarded. This scheme permits of ¼" more sealing over the lid. {A. J. Lidsey}

and that he proposes testing these on a vibrator to determine the effects of the modifications in respect of the acid escaping through the vents and generally to find which is the best arrangement, after which we will communicate with you again.
