GOSHAWK 11. *X4219.* VALVE ROCKER. *(Designs urgently required from W.W.)* At present we are using aluminium bronze rockers. We have no instructions for the permanent design of C.H.N.S. Rockers. You will remember that it was agreed that the hole drilled through the rockers should be increased and it was arranged that R.{Sir Henry Royce} should send through another design. LUBRICATORS. The lubricators all over the chassis require altering to suit the "Anoto" Lubricator. This is quite a big alteration because on the present designs the lubricators, in some cases, are made solid with the shackle bolt. We think also there are unnecessary lubricators on the rear brake mechanism taking into consideration that a force grease pump will be used. The changing of the lubricators could be done quite well at Derby in fact, having a model car should make it easier. We should like to know whether this is to be done at Derby or whether we should wait for designs from W.W. OIL FILLER & DRAIN PLUGS. We believe it has been agreed that the filler plugs and drain plugs which demand special spanners shall be abandoned for plugs with hexagon heads. We require definite instructions on this point. Also it has been agreed that the drain plug for draining the oil from the crankcase shall be made accessible. We have no instructions for this. The present oil filler is not satisfactory. We recommend that the cap should either be a screwed cap or that it should slide sideways. *It might be possible to use the same cap as we use on the petrol tank filler.* *This was the production job* SHUTTER FOR RADIATOR. We believe it was agreed that shutters operated by thermostat should be fitted to these cars. We consider that it is essential that some means should be provided for regulating the temperature of the water. It is also necessary that these parts should go through the tests with the rest of the chassis. WHEELS. Our people in France tell us emphatically that Michelin disc wheels spoil the riding of the car, *have a tendency to buckle and give considerable side sway*. They point out that it was noticeable at the last Show the numbers of cars which had dropped using the Michelin wheels. We feel that we should certainly have an alternative Contd.. | ||
