Fnk/G1.88/ID. 13.1.64 Due to the continued absence of JPB I am today endeavouring to reply to your letter without having seen the artwork marked A, C and D, to which you refer. Enclosed are three photographic prints of a Rolls-Royce car radiator badge. Although this was drawn in 1958 I understand that it was set out from dimensions given on a drawing dated 1912. If age is the criterion I doubt whether we have better evidence than this. The last paragraph of your letter advocated an alteration to the style of the words "Rolls" and "Royce". However justifiable this may be I ought to mention that time has imparted a distinction to the form of lettering on the enclosed prints and wonder if it would be wise to depart from it at all.
