(9) LUCAS JUNCTION BOX.

FUSES.

These two fuses are provided as a protection against short circuits on those portions of the system where these are most likely to occur. Replacement fuses are provided in a little container under the lid{A. J. Lidsey} of the box. After removing and replacing the lid{A. J. Lidsey}, care should be taken not to bridge across from bus/to bus bar with the metal of the lid{A. J. Lidsey}, and so cause these fuses to be melted.

The two bus bars are in direct connection with the battery through these fuses and therefore any further electrical apparatus which it si desired to place on the car may be supplied from these bars with the knowledge that protection from "shorts" on such circuits is already provided. At the same time, if such a short circuit does occur it does not put out of action the principal portions of the electrical system, e.g. dynamo and lights.

It is, however, not recommended that much additional apparatus be connected unless particular care is taken to ensure that sufficient charging of the battery can take place to cover the ectra requirements of such apparatus. (see under (4) "Care of Battery").

10. CONTACT BREAKER & DISTRIBUTOR.

The primary platinum points of the contact breaker should always exactly register with one another and present ot one another clean, flat faces. It is desirable very
