C O P Y. Wd{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead}1/NJ17.1.24. Hm.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} from Wd.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead} Chassis 12-EM. - 10,000 Miles Trial Car. Referring to your note Hm{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs}/FHA2/EW20.12.23., we have now received a report from North & Sons Ltd., regarding the E.O.6 type Watford Magneto No.65317, which you complained had noisy gears and missed at high speed. Following is copy of North's letter :- "We beg to say that we have received and examined the magneto No.65317. This magneto was subjected to the usual tests as received and passed all electrical and running tests quite satisfactorily. There was no sign of missing on our standard high speed test, which is at 3,600 r.p.m. over a gap of 5½ m/m.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} The magneto has been examined in detail and everything was found to be in order. The gears are in good condition, but the magneto was noisier than magnetos which are now being delivered, as it was not fitted with the newer type brake, acting on the distributor wheel, which is now fitted to all magnetos. One of these brakes has been fitted and the magneto re-assembled, and found to be quite satisfactory, both so far as the elimination of noise is concerned, and electrically. The magneto is being returned to you by passenger train, no charge being made for the work which has been carried out." Will CO/Dn. be good enough to notify Accounts that there will be no charge for the work done on the above-mentioned magneto, and arrange that on arrival the magneto is handed to Hm.{Capt. W.
