To Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson} x4038. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn{Mr Robinson}3/LG6.5.29. K.S. PETROL GAUGE. In our Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn{Mr Robinson}2/LG15.1.29. last para. we suggested that the tank should be emptied before the gauge is connected up. All the latest K.S. petrol gauges which we have standardised are equipped with a hand pump. One of the objects of this pump is to obviate the necessity of emptying the tank when the gauge is dis-connected up. Therefore with the latest gauge the air line and tank unit can be connected up whatever quantity of petrol is in the tank and then by one or two strokes of the hand pump sufficient air can be injected into the air bell to ensure that the gauge shews the correct reading of the quantity of petrol in the tank.
