ORIGINAL TO HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} FROM DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}4/M27.5.27. V7420 V235 V8420 V8520 AXLE CONTROL - PHANTOM & EAC. 7. You will remember that R.{Sir Henry Royce} adversely criticised the accessibility of the shock dampers for the axle control on EAC. 7. Could you practically investigate the possibilities of taking these shock/dampers down? Provision for this was made on our drawings and we should like to know whether you find it possible in actual practice. The reason for this is that when we put the shock dampers at the front we find in the first case that the steering and brake geometry are seriously spoiled, and we doubt whether the appearance of the shock dampers in that position will be very acceptable. An alteration which you could make immediately to the present scheme is to reduce the lever to 12", which was the original length. We understand from you that quarreling due to this short lever is of no importance that can be detected. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
