Dear Sir,

Being aware that any valuable improvements concerning motors will interest you, I take the liberty to submit for your appreciation an improved Silencer, patented in England and other countries.

Please find enclosed drawings showing the general principle of this Silencer. The main feature is the special shape of the internal deflecting members, with which a great number of combinations are possible, suitable to a great range of power and regime of motors.

Deflecting members divide the shell in a plurality of chambers. Gas passages are provided preferably in the longitudinal part of the member.

Gas passages made in one side only near the shell, will cause tangential flow of the exhaust gas and whirling motion.

Similar tangential gas passages in the following member, but made in the diametrally opposite side will produce an alternative whirling motion.

Tangential passage made both sides of the member will cause inverted ~~and~~ whirling and colliding motion in the corresponding chamber.

Gas passages made in the centre of the member will produce another kind of motion.

Many other combinations are also possible, to make a suitable silencer.
