To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from EFC. c. SFI/Mr. Brock. X5783do EFC9/T15.12.26. 20 HP. DYNAMO No.896. EX CHASSIS GMK.25. Ref. Mr. Brock's note 6.12.26. This is a 29 commutator segment machine. There are one or two minor faults which, however, would not account for the solder running. These are :- (1) The positive brush has been inserted the wrong way round and is slightly fractured, but not at the vital point. (2) The clearance between the control brush holder and the commutator is excessive, being .030" over the top limit on the production test. The insulation is O.K. as received, but broke down across the brush dust on the 200 volt test. There would appear to be insufficient reason for the commutator solder having run in normal circumstances. In this case we definitely consider there must have been an open circuit or faulty external connection. The machine is returned to Mr. Brockailey. EFC. | ||
