1079 Exptl. Dept. HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/AFA.19/JH. 13th August, 1936. Messrs. New Hudson Ltd., Icknield Street, Birmingham,18. For the attention of Mr. Frazer. Dear Sirs, We have duly received the front axle made by yourselves and fitted with Girling Brakes. At your urgent insistance, we agreed to let you supply a new front axle so that we might try the full Girling system. Thus you had complete freedom to lay out the geometry as you though fit, and we withdrew our original request that you should use Bowden cables. We are therefore astounded to find that you have restricted our lock by more than 6°, and even so that there is a most unpleasant full-lock foul between rods and axle with the brakes on in the worn condition. We consider that you have failed to fulfill your contract, the lock on the axle as built being less than that shown on the drawings. We shall fit this axle to a car and test it to see if we can make any use of the Girling principle, but it must be understood that it is quite impossible for us to standardise this scheme. | ||
