Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} /Gry. {Shadwell Grylls} 3/MH. {M. Huckerby} 3.2.39. BENTLEY. Replying to Cx. {Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} 3/KW.2.2.39 re the use of Discol fuel, no increase in performance will be noticeable by using Discol instead of any other first quality fuel. If your Trials Cars detonate at low speeds the detonation would almost certainly be suppressed by Discol, but there would be no other advantage. Fuels which would give a better performance are not commercially obtainable. We have additional dislikes of Discol which we have to be careful not to air before people financially interested in it, and these are that petrol pump diaphragms do not like it, it removes paint from the wings and if only occasionally used in the car is apt to transfer any gum in the petrol pipe lines into the float chamber.
