re. S. S. PRODUCTION CHASSIS.

With regard to our EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}3/H19.8.29., also Mx{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer}5/OGS.8.29. and our discussion on these points;as requested, the following is a general résumé of features giving trouble on test,or likely complaints, and require Experimental Dept. attention:-

(1) Clutch brake and change gear mechanism.

This is still unsatisfactory, as compared with 20-HP. car, as discussed.

(2) Exhaust noises. Spitting in Exhaust on retard & general Exhaust noises on acceleration.

These are features which I understand are receiving your attention and are still matters which are likely to be complained of.

(3) Propellor Shaft Clearance.

The remarks in regard to this still hold good as referred to in Mx{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer}5/OGS.8.29.

(4) Vacuum Pump - Oil Flooding Carburetter.

Drain pipe to front wheel case now coming through. Should this not be tested for leaks and explosions in crankchamber after long use.

(5) Slipper Wheels.

Not yet free from "bus" knocks, throbs etc. also engine periods higher speeds.

(6) Tappets noisy.

Until normal temperature reached and affected by water temperature.

(7) Noisy gears and Side shafts.

These are still rather a low comparative standard but improvement is being made in manufacture and we have hopes of better results shortly being obtained.
