BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/AJL. c. to MX.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} x7510. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/AJL.3/MJ.24.7.30. AUTOVAC TANK. With reference to MX{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer}2/T23.7.30., the complaint is due to the use of the stud for holding down the clamp which holds the elbows in position. In the first place the length of the stud varies as much as .250", and stands proud of the nut by a varying amount. We suggest the use of a plated cap nut to improve the appearance. The nut also fouls the suction elbow, this can be overcome by altering the bend of the suction pipe so that the elbow is put in at an angle which will clear the nut. Will BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} please deal with these points. There is no criticism with regard to the appearance of the aluminium top itself, the finish of which is equal to the old brass top.
