c. to Am/Les. ROY {Sir Henry Royce} /Ms10/P, 28.1.38. SHOCK DAMPER BELLOWS EX BRITISH THERMOSTAT CO. We have been in communication with the above-mentioned firm with regard to the supply of Bellows GW.736 for Wraith Chassis, and for 200 lots have obtained a reduction in price from 5/6d to 5/3d each. They also state that provided we are prepared to forego certain tests they are willing to reduce their price by 20%. Below we give extract from their letter referring to this:- "We also confirm that we could reduce the price by 20% if we were to supply you with bellows which had not been through all our standard processes. In such a case, however, we could not take responsibility for any failures which might result. As you will find by reference to your Experimental Dept., failures were experienced with the earlier bellows, but we have very greatly improved our methods of manufacture during the past two years. It would, we think, be very unwise to cut out these processes, which in the light of experience have improved the manufactured article, and we feel sure you will agree with us on this point." Please advise whether you consider we should accept their offer. Roy. {Sir Henry Royce} | ||
