Dear Sirs, We have received Mr. Chandler's letter of the 21st instant referring to the consignment of 10" Long Clutches about which there seems to be a certain amount of trouble. At the moment we cannot understand why one or two of these clutches should have got through with odd lengths of levers, as they were all specially inspected by means of a clock indicator pivotting on a column, which should automatically have shown up any variation in the length of the levers. However, we understand that you are returning the clutches about which you are complaining, and immediately they are received here you may rest assured that they will all receive a thorough inspection. We note that you complain of some having the balancing holes drilled deeply into the section of the pressure plate, and these points will be taken into consideration when we reinspect same. With regard to the six which we propose sending to you with the adjusting screws not locked, unfortunately, all those we had here were already locked, but we are arranging to build up a further six immediately and will send these along just as soon as possible.
