(2) We can put more friction in the steering column without spoiling self centering.

(3) The self centering force is behind the side steering tube springs and therefore will cause them to deflect more for a given bump before the shock is transmitted to the hand.

(4) The amount of self centering is easily controllable.

(5) The self centering being behind the side steering tube, the sponginess in the steering due to marked self centering and weak side steering tube springs, will be avoided.
