Rolls-Royce Ltd., DERBY. Dear Sir, For the attention of Mr. Robotham. We would thank you for your favor dated the 2nd instant, reference as above, and are very sorry to hear that the smaller Marles-Weller Steering we submitted to you for use on the Bentley car does not appear to show up to the advantage that this type of Steering did on your Phantom Rolls-Royce. From the contents of the second paragraph of your letter it would appear to us that having in mind the characteristics mentioned in this paragraph, probably the Marles Gear would be the more suitable for this particular car. From the information we have regarding this car, as regards size and weight, we would put forward our L.7 Gear, as shewn on the enclosed drawing G.A.2325, and we should very much like to have an opportunity of submitting one of these Gears for you to try. You will remember when we suggested the Marles-Weller Gear for your Rolls-Royce car, we put forward the reason that you were troubled with wheel wobble, and the Marles-Weller Gear is able to damp out these things better than the Marles Gear, owing to its extremely low reverse efficiency. The Marles Gear however, is considerably more efficient, and also is equally efficient under locks as it is in the straight ahead position.
