[Typed top right]: E/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}1/M.8.6.37. WINDTONE HORNS - BENTLEY. --------------------------- We understand that it is desired to fit Lucas Windtone Horns to the Bentley. A scheme for fitting the standard mellotone horn has been in existence some while in R.R. Scheme 925. We understand, however, that it is desired to fit the new Lucas windtone horn of the elbow type WT.11, and the bracket on R.R. Scheme 925 cannot be used. On Lec.5718 herewith we show this latest horn mounted on the headlamp bracket. A small edition of the normal Lucas plate bracket is attached to the horn in the usual way, and this bracket is attached to the lamp standard by means of two studs into a forging. We have adopted this two piece bracket in order that the plate bracket may be supplied by Messrs. Lucas and the horn tuned thereon. *We notice on Ph.III. production that there is a washer between the plate bracket and the horn. This spoils the heel of the bracket, and in our original schemes we had a plate distance piece. However, we have copied present production. An alternative and somewhat simpler scheme would be to mount the horns above the apron and carried on the headlamp crossmember. A scheme for this is shown on Lec.5707 also herewith. We suggest that both schemes be fitted up on a car, and that Sales be given an opportunity of expressing their opinion on each in the matter of appearance.
