S/W (Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}) X4034? PN.{Mr Northey}1/WT26.7.28. 10-G3. I omitted to mention in my memo PN{Mr Northey}2/WT23.7.28 that the petrol gauge fitted to 10-G3, though being decorative, was entirely useless as to the amount of petrol that might be in the tank. It hit one most forcibly at the times one was filling up, and though it was alleged that the tank held 14 gallons, it always overflowed before the gauge showed more then 12 - also on one occasion when I had been running 50 miles, having started with only 4 gallons in the tank, I felt rather nervous about having sufficient - when I had done 50 miles I found that I had then 5 gallons. A degree of efficiency which even your Department would hardly claim. PN.{Mr Northey} Wy. | ||
