To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from EH, c. to BJ. &: to Ey. EH4/LG2.10.17. X.3047 - FLOATING SUN-WHEEL BUSH This was instructed up when we had trouble with the sweated bushes working loose. We have run one of the special sun-wheels with the floating bush for 110 hours on an engine. It is in very good condition. For a considerable time now, the bushes on the present sun-wheels have been pressed in tightly and held by three round keys. Since we have fitted them this way we have not had a single case of one working loose. 500 or 600 engines have been made this way. The floating bush is a more difficult job to make and does not give any better results than the pegged bush. We could send a sample sun-wheel to Mr. Royce of he wishes. We recommend that we continue with the present method of fixing this bush. EH. | ||
