BREWSTER BUILDING, LONG ISLAND CITY STILLWELL 4-6240 9. May 11, 1937 Mr. W. A.{Mr Adams} Robotham c/o Rolls-Royce, Ltd. Derby, England Dear Robotham: this morning: We received your cable as follows "LATEST INFORMATION REGARDING BEHAVIOUR OF LONG CLUTCH IN TRIALS CAR URGENTLY REQUIRED STOP IF SATISFACTORY PLEASE CONTINUE MILEAGE" After consultation with Mr. Adkins and our demonstrator, they report that the clutch is very satisfactory and has had the usual herd usage to which it is subjected by people taking trial runs. We have therefore cabled you as follows: "TRIALS CLUTCH VERY SATISFACTORY MILEAGE SINCE INSTALLATION FORTYFOUR HUNDRED" Mr. Adkins also reports that the clutch in the Bill car 3.AZ.190 was very bed, although it had been subjected to practically no mileage at all. He is installing the clutch which came in from Detroit, and will send the Bill hub back there immediately to have it fixed up so that we shall have a spare on hand. Mr. Adkins has written you about the clutch, and you undoubtedly have his letter by now. It is his intention to write you again after it has had more mileage. We are now enjoying wonderful spring weather, and are hopeful we may get a little Office of the President [Handwritten Notes:] [Top left of signature, in red ink:] HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Please note [Signature:] J S Inskip [Below signature:] Mr. Lawson noted HP/KS | ||
