X4426 To Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Hm. {Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} [Text struck through: To Ws.] Hm {Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} 9/W15.8.22. I am sending you a Shock Absorber which has been taken off a car which has done 3,000 miles only. You will see from examination that one of the wooden bushes has worn very badly indeed, and we think it would be a good opportunity to send this to the Hartford people for them to examine, and to give us their opinion as to the cause of the abnormal wear which has taken place in this particular bush, so that in case we have made any mistakes we can try to prevent it happening in future. After you have examined it, would you please send it on to the C.O. for them to deal with. It should be noted that we have supplied a new Shock Absorber free of charge to replace this one, and we shall be glad if arrangements can be made, when Hartfords have finished with it, to have it returned to our Stores, so that it can be credited against the new one supplied free of charge.
