DIRECTIONS for INSTALLING OIL FILTER CARTRIDGE RENEWAL

READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY BEFORE INSTALLING

LOCATE A CLEAR SPACE ON THE DASH, PREFERABLY ON THE LEFT-HAND SIDE OR AS CLOSE TO THE PRESSURE SIDE OF THE PUMP AS POSSIBLE, UNDER THE HOOD AND HOLD FILTER IN PLACE MARKING THE BRACKET HOLES WITH A PENCIL. THEN CENTER PUNCH AND DRILL FOUR HOLES WITH A 11/64 DRILL. FURNISHED WITH THE FILTER ARE FOUR NO. 14 TYPE A SHEET METAL SCREWS, USE THESE SCREWS TO MOUNT THE FILTER IN PLACE.
THE BOTTOM HOLE ON THE FILTER IS THE OIL INLET AND THE SIDE HOLE IS THE OIL OUTLET.
CONNECT THE INLET HOLE TO THE OIL PRESSURE LINE AND THE OUTLET MUST BE PIPED TO THE CRANKCASE IN SUCH A WAY THAT THERE IS NO BACK PRESSURE.
SIZE PIPING TO THE INLET SHOULD NOT BE LARGER THAN 1/4 INCH COPPER TUBE. BOTH INLET AND OUTLET SPUDS ON THE FILTER ARE 1/8 PIPE THREAD.
OUTLET PIPING MUST NOT BE SMALLER THAN 1/4 INCH COPPER TUBE (USE FLEXIBLE TUBING IN CONNECTING FILTER OR LOOPED COPPER TUBING). NO METERED ORIFICE FITTING IS NEEDED AS THE INLET SPUD ON THE FILTER IS ALREADY METERED.
AFTER COMPLETING THE MOUNTING OF THE FILTER AND ALL TUBING IN PLACE AND ALL FITTINGS TIGHT, MAKE SURE THAT THE COVER ON THE FILTER IS TIGHT. (TO TIGHTEN COVER PLACE A FLAT BAR OF METAL ABOUT 12 INCHES LONG IN THE COVER SLOT AND TURN TOWARDS THE RIGHT OR CLOCKWISE.) START ENGINE AND LET IT RUN FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES TO CHECK PIPING FOR LEAKS.

CARTRIDGE RENEWAL

WHEN IT IS NECESSARY TO CHANGE OR REPLACE THE CARTRIDGE PROCEED AS FOLLOWS:

1-REMOVE THE COVER BY INSERTING A FLAT BAR OR TIRE IRON IN THE SLOT OF THE COVER (AS SHOWN IN FIG.-B) AND TURN TOWARDS THE LEFT OR ANTICLOCKWISE.
2-REMOVE COVER AND LIFT OUT CARTRIDGE AND DISCARD.
3-WIPE OUT THE FILTER BOWL WITH A CLEAN CLOTH, BUT DO NOT DESTROY THE GASKET.
4-MAKE SURE GASKET IS IN PLACE, THEN INSTALL THE NEW CARTRIDGE.
5-REPLACE THE COVER BY PRESSING DOWN WITH ONE HAND AND TURN THE BAR WRENCH TOWARDS THE RIGHT WITH THE OTHER TO TIGHTEN.
6-RUN THE ENGINE ABOUT 5 MINUTES TO MAKE SURE THERE ARE NO OIL LEAKS.

CAUTION
PLUG OLD RETURN LINE & DRILL & TAP 1/8 PIPE THREAD RETURN INTO THE CRANKCASE ON ALL PLYMOUTH, CHRYSLER, DESOTO, DODGE & DODGE TRUCKS
