Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}7/KW.22.9.34. Very few Bentleys have been fitted with bumpers because we have endeavoured to discourage them on the grounds of their weight. Consequently, most of the bumper makers have not thought it worth while to tackle the job of designing a special bumper for the Bentley. But Messrs. Wilmot-Breeden Ltd. of 177, The Vale, Acton, London, W. 3, and the J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} R.{Sir Henry Royce} Engineering Co. of Olaf Street, Latimer Road, Notting Hill, London, W. 11., who each make a fair amount of bumpers for R-R cars, have occasionally supplied bumpers for Bentleys. These bumpers for Bentleys have been small in section, and consequently lighter, than the bumpers for R-R cars. We have asked each firm to produce quickly a bumper, such as they have in the past supplied for the Bentley and will send them to you immediately we can get hold of them. We expect to despatch them to-morrow, or Wednesday morning at the latest. Each bumper will be labelled with the name and address of the maker. If there is anything further we can do, please let us know. Hn.{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders} [Signature/tick] | ||
