Accompanied by R.C.Lewis I have just completed 2,000 miles in France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany. The car is very promising. Controllability, suspension and braking are excellent. It is easily the best all round sample of a touring car we have produced.

Except for the morning of the first and afternoon of the last day of the weeks' run, the car has been operating in extremely low temperatures, ranging from -5 to - 18°C.

Owing to snow and ice covered roads, maximum speed was not maintained for any length of time. Approximately 500 miles were run on Autobahn at 70 to 80 m.p.h.

As previously reported the rear axle developed noise after a sustained run of 60 miles at 80 m.p.h. After running for a time at lower speeds the noise disappeared. On the following day the noise re-appeared after a shorter run on Autobahn. Symptoms point to "cutting in" of gears due to breaking down of oil film.

Features on the car which require attention are:-

Engine. Investigation of the cause of valve spring failure.
