Form Debn. G21-48640 AUTOMOTIVE LUBRICANTS DEPARTMENT. ENGINEERING DIVISION. VACUUM OIL COMPANY LTD. CAXTON HOUSE WESTMINSTER LONDON S.W.1. -2- Gargoyle Mobilgrease A semi-fluid grease of green colour, compounded with metallic soap. This lubricant is primarily intended for heavy duty conditions in gearboxes and back axles where an adhesive lubricant of stringy character is desired. It has marked adhesive properties and follows, coats and cushions gears effectively during temperatures above freezing. Where this lubricant is recommended for summer use, it is usual to recommend Mobiloil "C" or "CW" for winter. It is also suitable for heavy duty worm gears operating at high temperatures, such as found in modern high speed buses. As a general chassis lubricant, Mobilgrease has marked advantages in extending the periods required between chassis lubrication. Its properties are such that it does not leak from spring shackles, etc. It has an adhesive character which gives very effective lubrication and it does not readily wash off bearing surfaces in dirty weather. Experience shows that Mobilgrease will last two or three times longer than the ordinary yellow greases in spring shackles, etc. Mobilgrease is also an efficient lubricant for steering gears. Mobiloil "B" and "BB" These are our regular grades of engine oils which are recommended where gearboxes and back axles are specially designed for the use of an engine oil and it is particularly desired to use a filtered oil in place of a dark oil. Mobilubricant "S" In addition to the above transmission lubricants, we have now introduced a special non-separating grease of spongy character, specially adapted for use in universal joints. It resists oil separation and leakage in universal joints of the Spicer type at speeds approximating 5,000 r.p.m. It is considered to be the best lubricant for for metal type universal joints at present available. As regards Gargoyle Mobilgrease, we do not normally recommend this product for use in back axles where the wheel bearings are lubricated from the axle case.
