ROY.{Sir Henry Royce} c. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. BY/CS. 85010 CRANKSHAFTS WITH PROVISION FOR BALANCE WEIGHTS FOR 20/25 HP. ENGINE. Will you please note that the three crankshafts we have ordered, on which provision is being made by altering the dies for balance weight facings to be produced, should be produced in nitrogen hardening steel. Judging from our experience with the type of steel produced by Messrs. Vickers themselves for this purpose, I think it would be worth while having the crankshafts in question produced in this material, as it would cut out the dual responsibility which would occur if Firths produced the steel and Vickers the forgings.
